René Lacoste was a famous French tennis player and a multiple Grand Slam tennis champion in the late 1920’s, for what he was nicknamed the crocodile by the press. Little did he knew that about a decade later - in 1933 – the once innocent remark would become the iconic trademark for the brand Lacoste. The invention of the revolutionary tennis shirt with the ubiquitous animal embroidered on the chest would mark the origin of this long heritage. Today Lacoste is synonym of elegant, effortless style that can be worn on and off the tennis courts. The brand debuted as the official outfitter of the Roland Garros tennis tournament back in 1971. And in more recent years continues to do so, for other famous tournaments including the Thailand Open, the Dubai Tennis Championship and the Australia Open. The crocodile brand is now present during the three Grand Slams Tournaments. The undeniable sport spirit that gave birth to the brand has been clearly carried into its watch collection: bright, fun and innovative but also elegant thanks to the savoir-faire touch, so classic of French design.
