Moving on our Christmas gift guide, it’s time to look at the some of the most rare, geeky and quirky watches that are part of our current collections. Perhaps you have an eccentric aunt, uncle or even a good friend who will absolutely adore this kind of extra-ordinary watches? If this is the case, this Christmas gift guide: the best of rare, geeky and quirky watches edition is right on time to help you in your quest to find the watch for that especial person.

With so many odd exemplars to choose from, it was a bit of a challenge to pick the top 3 for this edition. I’m not sure whether this is the top 3 best or worst, because it could easily be both! I’ll leave that up to you, but one thing is for sure: these are some of the weirdest watches I’ve ever seen.

1. 01 The One ‘Spinning Wheel Black & Green’: ok all of the 01 The One watches look like something from other dimension, really. These binary watches are for sure an evolved way of perceiving and reading time. They even have mini video tutorials that teach you how to read time. From all the futuristic timepieces my favorite has to be the ‘Spinning Wheel Black & Green” simply because of the bright and lovely color combination that also reminds me of the color wheel.
2. Diesel Big Daddy Rainbow: this new interpretation of the Mr. Daddy collection with matte black plating and its blue, red, orange and yellow color pops on the dial looks more ‘friendly’ than other Big Daddy editions. I immediately felt attracted by the pop of colors and the rainbow part of its name, so festive and cheerful. This mighty watch is for ‘the brave only’ as Diesel’s mantra suggests and with 4 times zones it may be the best companion for those traveling overseas during the holidays.
3. Tendence Crazy Chrono Purple: this crazy and sexy timepiece is one of the boldest, brightest watches ever created by Tendence. The irreverent color combination of pinks, purple, white and blue into one single watch simply demands attention and stands for originality. Although unisex, I find this model quite feminine since it has dazzling Swarovski® elements on the bezel. The crazy dual colored strap in silicon is the finishing touch of this whimsical creation.

There is an undeniable inclination towards color in my selection and the reason is simple: holidays is the time to be happy and celebrate! And for me, a pop of color goes a long way…stay tuned for Friday’s mood board with lots of inspiration and rarer, geekier and quirky watches! It feels natural that, with the beginning of a new season we instinctively seek for ways to adapt and reinvent ourselves in order to make the best of it and, of course feel and look our best.  In a few days, Summer will be over with Autumn officially arriving to bring its beauty:  leaves transitioning in color to create the most amazing foliage, pumpkins (and therefore pumpkin soup, my favorite!) and the cold weather which I find so warming ironically, since it gives us the opportunity to update our wardrobe to stay warm and cozy…

My pick of the day is actually more than a pick, as today I bring to you my Watch Essentials Guide for this Fall/Winter season. The Daily watch: intended for everyday use, basic and uncomplicated style that can be paired effortlessly with office attire and most casual looks. This watch no doubt will become your best pal. My choice: Fossil Heather Rose Gold Beige. Why I love it: boyfriend-inspired yet perfectly feminine. It also has a decidedly vintage charm you can see and feel in the aged leather strap and classic case body.

The Active Watch: this is the go-to watch for exercise and active lifestyles. Delicious eye candy that combines high precision and performance. My choice: Seiko Sportura Chrono Ceramic. Why I love it: strength and beauty go by the hand, turning perfect timing into an aesthetic pleasure.

The Dressy Watch: the final touch for all your glamorous looks. This watch is ready to impress and command attention. My choice:  Michael Kors Runway Gold. Why I love it: is just divinely chic and fabulous, with a killer combination of golden stainless steel and creamy horn acetate links.

The Weekender Watch: especially reserved for those days when you feel like having fun, the weekender is all about joyfulness and color. Besides casual looks, it is perfect to add a little pizazz to dressier looks. My choice: Tendence Slim Pop Burgundy. Why I love it: unique tri-dimensional numbers and striking color combinations, beautifully complemented with the sophisticated ‘Clous de Paris’ finishing on the top ring. This watch screams for attention, in a good way.

The Tendence Gulliver Slim TS151003 is the same watch but with a rose-gold coated stainless steel case, black dial and black rubber strap.

The Tendence Gulliver Sport TT530002 is an analog watch with a black coated stainless steel case (50 mm), black dial, white numerals and black rubber strap. It has a date function and is water resistant up to 100 meters.

The Tendence Gulliver Sport TT530003 is the same watch but with orange numerals.

The Tendence Gulliver Sport TT560001 is a chronograph watch with a black coated stainless steel case (50 mm), black dial, rose-gold numerals and black rubber strap. 	The Tendence Med Gulliver TE02093018 is an analog watch with a brown plastic case and brown leather strap. The bezel is made of stainless steel, the watch is water resistant up to 100 meters.
