Since 1888, the Swiss watch brand Certina has been crafting timepieces featuring the Double Security (DS) system, which provides ultimate protection against shocks and water. By purchasing an original Certina watch strap from Mastersintime.com, you are guaranteed the high quality standard that matches your watch, and you can easily replace it yourself. The materials used are also designed for extreme robustness, including high-grade 316L stainless steel, FKM rubber, and #tideocean textile. Prices for the straps range from €29 to approximately €300. If you place your order on a business day before 6:00 PM, we will ship the strap the same day.
Swiss watch brand Certina was founded in 1888 by brothers Adolf and Alfred Kurth in Grenchen. Initially operating under the name Grana, the brand was officially renamed Certina in 1939 (derived from the Latin *certus*, meaning "certain" or "reliable"). A defining feature of Certina watches is the DS (Double Security) concept, introduced in 1959, an innovative system incorporating a "floating" movement and additional seals, which provides exceptional shock and water resistance. This is symbolized by the Certina turtle emblem. Today, as part of the Swatch Group, Certina is globally recognized for its sporty character and the use of high-quality Swiss engineering.
The Double Security (DS) concept focuses on extreme robustness, water resistance, and reliability under demanding conditions, principles consistently applied to the materials and design of both Certina watches and their straps. For its metal bracelets, the brand exclusively uses high-grade 316L stainless steel (which is hypoallergenic and highly corrosion-resistant) or ultra-light, exceptionally strong titanium. The clasps, particularly on the brand’s dive watches, such as the DS Action line, feature a specialized extension, allowing the strap to be worn securely and effortlessly over a thick wetsuit without compromising its structural integrity. In keeping with its focus on water resistance, Certina frequently utilizes premium FKM rubber, a material highly resistant to salt water, UV radiation, and tearing. In addition, the brand offers textile NATO-style straps made from #tide ocean material® (upcycled ocean plastic). This material is quick-drying, virtually indestructible, and aligns with Certina’s strong connection to the oceans and sea turtles.
The most popular Certina watch straps at Mastersintime.com are the steel link bracelet for the DS Action and the brown leather strap for the DS-Action Day-Date, both of which are highly sought-after, best-selling models.
Finding the perfect Certina strap for your watch is simple. Locate the model number, consisting of the letter 'C' followed by six digits, on the case back of your watch and enter it into our search. The search results will display the original replacement strap as well as suitable alternatives. Is the strap you need currently out of stock? Add it to your wish list, and we will send you an email as soon as it becomes available again.
Certina leather watch straps are generally sold without a buckle. This allows you to use the strap on any watch with a straight-lug attachment of the same size, and it also means you can easily swap over your existing buckle. Furthermore, this helps keep the price of the strap more consistent. Prices for leather straps (without a buckle) start at €29 for a 13 mm-wide version and go up to €102 for a 21 mm-wide padded leather strap with stitching. Steel bracelets range from approximately €130 to €300, while rubber straps range from €58 to €116.
Certina’s #tide ocean textile straps are crafted from upcycled ocean plastic. While the raw materials are collected in Asian waters, the mechanical processing into the final yarn is carried out by their official partner, #tideocean SA, in Switzerland. Consequently, the textile strap itself is of Swiss manufacture. For leather, rubber (FKM), and metal straps, Certina works with specialized suppliers, primarily based in Asia (Thailand or China), to keep their mid-range watches affordable, while ensuring that all components meet the rigorous quality standards set by the Swiss parent company.
Using tools can lead to scratches on the watch case. For this reason, Certina’s modern collections are equipped with a high-quality Quick-Release system. This allows you to swap straps in an instant, without the need for any tools, while maintaining a construction that adheres to the Swiss manufacturer’s strict shock-resistance standards.
Generally, most modern Certina watch straps are interchangeable, but compatibility is strictly governed by the lug design and width. A large percentage of models across the DS Action, DS-1, and DS-8 collections feature a built-in Quick-Release system for tool-free swapping. For any Certina watch with a standard straight-lug attachment, you can easily use other Certina or third-party straps, provided you match the exact lug width; please note, however, that Certina frequently uses less common 19mm and 21mm widths alongside standard sizes. The only major exceptions are specific diving models with custom curved end-links and the unique DS+ Modular Series, which relies on its own proprietary interchangeable case system.
