The Masterpiece line is also known by its former name Les Mechaniques; a no longer produced collection that, in addition to custom Swiss movements, also contained 'heritage' timepieces.

With the introduction of the ML106 chronograph caliber in 2006, used in the Masterpiece Le Chronographe, and the in-house production of complex movement components, Maurice Lacroix can claim the prestigious status of a manufacture d'horlogerie. This is a watch manufacturer that designs and produces all or most of the movement parts in their own production facilities as opposed to assembling watches using parts purchased from other companies.
