Change the look of your watch with a new strap

Posted July 22, 2025 by Miriam Reading time approximately 5 minutes

Is your watch strap worn out, or do you simply want something new? A new watch strap can give your watch a completely different look. That's why it's so convenient that we have a huge database of watch straps where you can find replacement straps and clasps for most of the watch brands we sell. Simply enter the code on the back of your watch, and we'll show you which straps will fit your watch.

With a replacement watch strap, you'll have a "new" watch in no time. Seeing is believing? We've collected a few examples for you below!

Trendy update with a mesh bracelet

Give your watch a trendy update with a mesh bracelet made of braided steel wire. This type of bracelet is super fashionable and feels great on the wrist. For example, with this Mondaine designer watch.

Extra comfort with a silicone rubber strap

With many diving watches you have a choice of a metal or a rubber strap. Metal is a bit more businesslike, for example when you wear a suit, and silicone rubber is practical in (sea) water.

If you own a Citizen watch with a steel or titanium strap you can usually find a silicone alternative. The watch immediately looks a lot sportier!

You can easily remove the push bar that holds the strap in place with a strap changing tool.  With this manual you can easily do this yourself.

Unique combination: dress watch with a NATO strap

Many watch enthusiasts enjoy pairing a watch with a strap that wasn't originally designed for it. This creates a truly personal and unique look. For example, by combining a classic retro watch with a military-style NATO strap.

A new look with a different color or pattern

Changing the material of your watch strap doesn't just give you a different look; a different color can also make a huge difference! Take this classic Hugo Boss watch or the trendy Cluse, for example. The strap color even subtly affects the dial color!

Even easier to change your strap with quick release

To make it even easier for you to customize the look of your watch, straps from more and more brands come with a quick release system. This way you have a completely different watch in a few seconds!

Unfortunately, changing a strap isn't always this easy. Watch straps on Skagen watches, for example, are often attached with screws. In that case, only straps designed for this type of watch will fit. In our shop, you'll also find special small screwdrivers and other tools for changing straps.

Pay attention to the shape of the strap mount

Before you buy a new watch strap, it is good to check how wide your strap is and what shape the strap mount is. If the end is straight, (almost) all other straps of the same width will fit your watch. With watches where the strap mount is not straight, only straps that are specifically intended for that watch will fit. You measure the width of your strap between the lugs.

Danish Design watch straps usually have a straight mount. This way you have a wide choice of different straps and bracelets.

Update your smartwatch with a new strap

Because smartwatches—like Garmin's—are often used as sports watches, they usually come with a sporty silicone strap. But if you're going out or wearing a suit to work, a leather or metal mesh bracelet is a more obvious choice. If your smartwatch strap has a straight mount and is secured with spring bars, you can choose any other straight strap of the same width.

Straps specifically for the Apple Watch

The Apple Watch is a different story; this brand has its own system for attaching the strap. On our site, we offer straps specifically for the Apple Watch from various well-known brands like Tommy Hilfiger and Fossil.

You can also buy special adapters on our site that allow you to make your own strap for your Apple Watch.

A new clasp for your watch strap

Some watch brands supply watch straps without a clasp or buckle so the customer can choose which type of closure is preferred. Tissot, for example, offers various watch clasps to personalize your watch even further.

In the rare event that you can't find a replacement strap for your watch, you can also choose a different watch strap with a straight mount. Mastersintime.com has a wide selection of these as well. Straps from well-known brands like Seiko and Armani, as well as universal watch straps from Hirsch.
